Rebuild the wall.

I debated with… myself during the past days how should I begin the “General Conclusions” section of my thesis and I finally decided that I should start it with McNealy’s famous words:

“You have zero privacy anyway. Get over it!”

In an effort to provide a proper source for this quotation, I searched for it and realized that McNealy said this 14 years ago. Wow! Here is the source I will most probably cite: http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/1999/01/17538.

14 years have passed and I wonder, taking into account that in 1999 we had zero privacy, whether now we’re having -100. Or -1000. We’re on the “minus” side anyway.

The question is “should we really get over it?”. I think not. In fact, this is how I will continue the remarks in my general conclusion of the thesis: we should not get over it. We should be  aware of our rights and we should claim them so that we should rebuild opacity walls around us. Of course, if we want to.
